ZENON anticipates loss in fourth quarter

Gas expansion project gets under way

June 2005 Petrofac has embarked on a second project close to its Sharjah base, this time in the neighbouring Emirate of Dubai for Margham Dubai Establishment’s (MDE) expansion project.The company produces natural gas from the Margham field which is processed into gas and condensate products for both local use and export. Residual dry gas is re-injected into the field. Project manager Andrew Mitchell outlines the scope of work, “Petrofac is tasked with a 50,000-manhour concept finalisation and front- end engineering and design for the expansion project. This includes plant modifications to enable anticipated operating scenarios in the future, including import of dry gas for storage, decline in reservoir pressure and additional gas flow from new discoveries in the existing field.” He continues, “Key features of the work include integration into the existing plant of additional multi-stage gas-turbine driven centrifugal re-injection compressors which have a discharge pressure of 500 bar. Upgrade of all processing facilities and utilities to meet new design requirements is also part of the job.”The integrated project team draws on a range of skills with Petrofac Engineering’s Woking office providing specialist expertise in optimising gas processing plant whilst Petrofac Engineering Construction’s extensive engineering capability in Sharjah...
