(Telecompaper) ZTE released its 5G-oriented RAN platform, ZTE Cloud RAN, and also demonstrated a single-carrier 800G 16QAM long-haul transmission test result. ZTE Cloud RAN is designed to reconstruct the wireless network based on the cloud processing platform, allowing operators to deploy networks using this new concept and develop new business values. ZTE signed strategic agreements with domestic and global customers to commercially deploy the ZTE Cloud RAN platform in Q2 2017. Described as record-breaking, the single-carrier 800G long-haul high-speed transmission result transmitted 120-Gbaud WDM 16QAM signals over 1,200-kilometre terrestrial fibre links. This is the first experiment with the highest symbol rate reported so far for ETDM-based 16QAM signals, ZTE said.
