Greenwich-based private investment firm Starwood Energy , in a joint venture with sustainable energy company Abengoa, won a contract by the state of California to build a 114-mile electricity transmission line between two substations. California Independent System Operator named the companies as the approved sponsor to finance, construct, own, operate and maintain the Delaney to Colorado River 500 kilovolt line.

FedEx Ground Package System Inc. has reached a $228 million settlement agreement with approximately 2,300 drivers in California, resolving the drivers' claims that they were misclassified as independent contractors and are due wages and other benefits under California law .
