RCom net profit grows to INR 6.75 bln in Q2

(Telecompaper) Indian operator Reliance Communications (RCom) saw its net profit increase to INR 6.75 billion in the fiscal second quarter to 30 September, from INR 1.02 billion in the year-ago quarter. Excluding the reversal of a provision of INR 4.41 billion, net profit was INR 2.34 billion for the quarter. Indian operations revenue rose 5.4 percent year-over-year to INR 46.24 billion, while global operations revenue went down 0.3 percent to INR 11.39 billion for the quarter. EBITDA for the Indian operations rose 15.1 percent to INR 16.40 billion, and the global operations grew 15.5 percent to INR 2.46 billion. Total EBITDA was INR 23.28 billion in Q2, and RCom invested INR 364 billion on capital equipment during the quarter. It remained free cash flow positive and said this is expected to continue. ARPU went up 26.3 percent year-over-year to INR 120, helped by a 30.8 percent increase in the data customer base to 34 million, including 9.1 million 3G customers. Total data traffic rose 116 percent year-over-year to 37.570 billion MB, thanks to more subscribers and higher data usage per customer. RCom finished September with a total 117.5 million mobile customers, down by 9.4 million from the previous quarter
