Guardian: The supreme court stopped the construction of dams on the river Ganga soon after the devastating floods that swept the state of Uttarakhand in June 2013. Many blamed them for exacerbating destruction. An 11-member expert committee recommended that 23 dams on the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, the two main tributaries of the Ganga, be scrapped. Salty's on Alki Beach chef Jeremy McLachlan on Copper River in Alaska Thursday, May 14, with his catch of two small Copper River king salmon, the opening day for the fishery. He and Salty's owner Gerry Kingen and Steve Kelly from Pacific Seafood flew a Learjet 31 to Alaska to fish on opening day and return the same day for a tasting party at the restaurant, giving them bragging rights to get the first Copper River to Seattle.
