The Columbus City Council and Mayor Kristen Brown have been at odds so frequently that it was refreshing to see them work together to achieve a solution that could provide additional benefits to the city. A compromise agreed upon at the June 2 council meeting stopped the city from heading down a slippery slope and still gave an auto dealer a means to achieve its goal of building a new dealership.

City Hall is running with the idea of asking customers of the fantastically successful Uber car service to chip in 50 cents per ride in support of mass transit. Back in January, this page pointed out that while yellow and green taxis are obliged to collect the half-buck, Uber - and all other black and livery car services - have been getting a free ride, denying the Metropolitan Transportation Authority unknown millions in revenue.
