Ridgefield Woman Charged With Issuing Bad Checks At Stew's In Norwalk

Francine Philippo, 52, was charged with third-degree larceny, issuing a bad check and failure to appear in court. She was held on $5,000 bond and will appear in court July 28. Police were alerted by Stew Leonard's that Philippo had written bad checks at the store on four occasions in January and February, according to police reports.

Photo: Dru Nadler / Dru Nadler Stew Leonard 's is assessing sites for a second supermarket on Long Island, according to multiple reports, with its debut store there scheduled to open early next year in Farmingdale, N.Y. Stew Leonard's has supermarkets in Norwalk where it is based, as well as Danbury, Newington and Yonkers, N.Y. The company also operates stand-alone wine stores.
