Car buying site TrueCar.com forecast total sales of 1.59 million vehicles, down 1 percent from the same month a year ago. But TrueCar said that was partly because automakers sold fewer vehicles to rental car companies and other fleets.

Turin, May 29 - Exor SpA "is determined" to purchase reinsurer PartnerRe because it fits the holding company's growth plans, Chairman John Elkann said Friday. "We are determined to carry on with the acquisition of PartnerRe because it is consistent with what we have said we want to do," in terms of growth, Elkann told Exor's annual meeting.

Fiat Chrysler Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne is convinced there will be another merger deal in the carmaking industry within the next three years, he said on Thursday, not denying reports that he sent an email earlier this year courting U.S. rival General Motors. Marchionne last month renewed his call for industry consolidation to sustain the heavy capital investments needed to meet demands for cleaner, safer vehicles.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is fighting back after a Decatur County, GA jury ordered the company to pay $150 million to the family of a four-year-old boy that was killed after a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee crashed and caught fire. The company is requesting the judge reduce the award, and should Walden's family not agree to the lower sum, that a new trial be held.
