General Mills Inc, the maker of Cheerios cereal and Betty Crocker cake mixes, said it would cut 675-725 jobs in its international business under a new restructuring plan aimed at cutting costs and boosting growth. The company, like rivals ConAgra Foods Inc and Campbell Soup Co, has been struggling with sluggish U.S. sales of cereals and frozen foods as consumers shift to foods perceived as healthier.

Cree Inc said it would reduce manufacturing capacity at its light-emitting diode factory, as it struggles with a decline in prices, and take an $85 million restructuring charge. The company also lowered its revenue forecast for the fourth quarter and said it would buy back $500 million worth of stock for the next fiscal year.

A U.S. appeals court ruled on Tuesday a decades-old pollution case over nuclear weapons production in Colorado should be sent back to the district court which in 2006 ordered companies that ran the facility to pay damages of $353 million. "This long lingering litigation deserves to find resolution soon," wrote one of the judges, Neil Gorsuch, about a case dating back to the 1980s, when Dow Chemical Co and a unit of Rockwell Automation Inc were involved in operating the Rocky Flats plant.
