14nm chips will reach mass production in China next year
2021-07-26 02:00:00| Total Telecom industry news
The Chinese semiconductor industry is in the news nowadays for advancing towards mass production of 14nm chips. After gaining competency in manufacturing 28nm chips, the country is now steadily moving towards achieving the goal of mass production of 14nm chips in the coming year. "The domestic 14nm chip has overcome many technical problems, including the realization of key equipment such as etching machine and thin film deposition, and mass application in large-scale production lines. The subsequent packaging and integration technology achievements are fully realized in mass production now," says Dr Yungang Bao, Assistant Director at the Institute of Computing Technology. All aspects of the domestic 14nm chip will be dramatically improved…read more on TotalTele.com »

Mass production of 14nm chips in China will spur future growth of its chip industry
2021-07-07 02:00:00| Total Telecom industry news
China is steadily moving towards achieving its goal of mass-producing 14nm chips next year. "Despite the technical difficulties, there is still a great hope that 14nm chips can be mass-produced next year," says Dr Wen Xiaojun, Deputy Director, Institute of Electronics, China Electronics and Information Industry Development Research Institute. China decided to work towards self-sufficiency in chips to meet its domestic demand and address the unprecedented shortage of chips after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. As a result, China has taken the lead in this segment by acquiring competencies to mass-produce 28nm this year and 14nm chips in the coming year. Surmounting technical challenges China's growth in the semiconductor industry is not without challenges…read more on TotalTele.com »

China takes lead in 28nm and 14nm chip production to address chip shortage
2021-06-03 02:00:00| Total Telecom industry news
This chip production breakthrough comes at a time of particular importance as the world grapples with unprecedented chip shortage. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic last year led to a surge in demand for electronics and mobile devices as people moved to work from home to maintain social distancing. The chip shortage has now halted production in several industries. Chips are easily the lifeblood of our lives, with everything from laptops to cars to washing machines using chips. Further, several upcoming technologies like Artificial Intelligence, 5G, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality will add to the demand for chips. Being the world's manufacturing hub, it is not surprising that China was the worst affected by the chip shortage. The US sanctions further added to the challenge for the country.
