The US Environmental Protections Agency's decision to approve the use of the insecticide sulfoxaflor has been overturned by a San Francisco-based federal appeals court, which ruled that the substance could be toxic to an already struggling bee population. , a three-judge panel at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the EPA's decision to improve sulfoxaflor two years ago "was based on flawed and limited data," was "not supported by substantial evidence," and could hasten an already "alarming" decline in the number of honey bees in the US.

EPA proposes to cancel some uses of propoxur insecticide.

After preliminary human health assessment found risks from certain applications, EPA is proposing to cancel all indoor aerosol, spray, and liquid formulations of propoxur inside hospitals and other commercial or institutional facilities where children may be present and all use in food-handling establishments. After these cancellations, there would be no remaining food uses, and no tolerance levels for propoxur. Action was conducted as part of agency’s registration review program.
