Amazon introduces new Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HD

(Telecompaper) Amazon has introduced the new Kindle Fire HDX and the new Kindle Fire HD, both featuring the new Fire OS and currently available for pre-order from Amazon. The new Kindle Fire HDX family features an HDX display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2 GHz, the new Fire OS 3.0 "Mojito" with updated features and platform updates, the new one touch Mayday button, up to eleven hours of mixed use and seventeen hours of reading and updated email, calendar and Silk browser. In addition, the Kindle Fire HDX comes equipped with new enterprise features including hardware and software-encryption, Kerberos Intranet, secure Wi-Fi connections, VPN integration and wireless printing, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Digital Plus audio and virtual 5.1 multi-channel surround sound and a front-facing HD camera. The 8.9-inch Fire HDX also comes equipped with a new 8-megapixel wide-aperture rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video. The 7-inch Kindle Fire is currently available for pre-order for USD 229 and will begin shipping on 18 October. The 4G version will is also available for pre-order, is priced at USD 329 and will begin shipping 14 November. The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX is currently available for pre-order for USD 379 and will begin shipping on 7 November. The 4G version is also currently available for pre-order, is priced at USD 479 and will begin shipping on 10 December.

Fujitsu 'world's thinnest' laptop has 11-hour battery, three times Full HD

Fujitsu will this month launch a super-thin Ultrabook, built on Intel's latest Haswell processors, with an 11-hour battery life and a screen with nearly three times HD resolution. The company said the new "UH90/L" model from its Lifebook line will be the world's thinnest for a laptop with a hard disk drive, measuring 15.5 mm at its thickest point. It will mark Fujitsu's entry into the quickly growing ranks of PCs built around Haswell processors, which boast slightly improved performance along with reduced power requirements.
