Colorado Wildfire Study shows actions can change outcomes.
2015-11-13 14:31:07| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
NIST's study of Colorado's devastating 2012 Waldo Canyon wildfire demonstrates that prompt and effective action can significantly change outcome of fires that occur in areas where residential communities and undeveloped wildlands meet. Study found that because Waldo firefighters tailored their response to specific WUI conditions, 75% of their attempts to extinguish ignited structures were successful and 79% of their efforts at fire containment were successful in preventing rampant fire spread.
