Tennessee Gas Pipeline: Company rejects alternate routes suggested by regulators

Kinder Morgan is doubling down on its preferred route for a proposed Tennessee Gas Pipeline project through central Berkshire County, the Pioneer Valley and a swath of southern New Hampshire, telling federal regulators several alternative proposals are non-starters. In a New Year's Eve filing to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the company's engineers detailed how a suggested hybrid route alongside an existing pipeline through parts of Richmond, the state-protected Kampoosa Bog Drainage Area in Stockbridge and Lee, and towns to the south, then connecting to a 19-mile stretch along the Massachusetts Turnpike, would be impractical and environmentally damaging.

Regulators deal a blow to rooftop solar industry

With no discussion, state regulators today voted unanimously to slash the value of credits rooftop solar customers earn for generating excess energy. The three-member Public Utilities Commission adopted a proposed order that would reduce by 75 percent the amount NV Energy pays customers for excess power their solar panels produce and change the flat service rate for customers with solar panels.

With no discussion, state regulators today voted unanimously to slash the value of credits rooftop solar customers earn for generating excess energy. The 113-page order by the Public Utilities Commission outlines a plan that cuts the value of so-called net metering and includes a requirement that existing customers adopt the lower rate over four years.

Dec 18 The agency that acts as the U.S. government's landlord and realtor has asked regulators in the District of Columbia to reject the merger of utilities Exelon Corp and Pepco Holdings Inc, unless it provides a better deal for taxpayers, the Washington Post reported. Attorneys for the General Services Administration said the deal subsidizes the rates of residential customers at the expense of federal taxpayers, the Post said, citing filings it had reviewed.
