For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for an Antenna SubMillimetre Waves Engineer who will give support to the Antennae Submm Waves Section TTC and PDT antennas , onsite at ESTEC. Tasks Responsibilities Providing expert technical support to ESA projects, programmes and general studies throughout all project phases, specifically in the field of TTC and PDT antennas Participating in project reviews and performing inhouse design and tradeoffs to support projectspecific technology developments Defining, initiating and monitoring RD activities covering both long and shortterm needs, specifically in the field of TTC and PDT antennas Monitoring applicable scientific and technological trends and maintaining stateoftheart expertise in TTC and PDT antennas. Requirements A Masters degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering or similar technology related discipline Experience in TTC and PDT antennas, architectures and technologies as applied to space Industrial experience is a major asset. We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Optical Communication Payload Operations Planning Expert and Overall Ground Segment Verification Engineer mf Tasks and Responsibilities The work will be performed at the European Space Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. This position, generally referred to as a Spacecraft Operations Engineer SOE, is responsible for the support to the Sentinels missions as a member of the Flight Control Team FCT during the operational phases, including special operations, and will also participate in test campaigns. The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities Act as Expert Planning and Interface engineer in the Optical Communication Payloads Planning and in the Overall Ground Segmend Verification areas, during Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP, Commissioning and Routine phases. Validation, test and operation of the Simulator and of the Mission Control System MCS including the OnBoard Software Maintenance OBSM and Mission Planning System. Generation, validation and maintenance of the Flight Operations Plan FOP. Support to test and operate the Network Data Interface Unit NDIU. Support for Flight Operations System FOS procurement, integration and tests. Review of satellite documents. Launch and Early Orbit Phase LEOP support. Commissioning support. The tasks to be performed require considerable initiative, flexibility and independence in executing the assigned tasks. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have as a minimum a Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline and minimum 3 years of experience in Operations Engineering activities. The following qualifications and experience are required Demonstrate experience with ground segment integration and validation, especially in the frame of mission planning and data distribution. Expert and operational experience on mission planning of optical communication payloads laser links, Sentinels OCP planning including interface with internal and external partners for the planning of such operations. Spacecraft Flight Operations knowledge including FDIR, in particular for the AOCS units, Thermal Control and Power subsystem. Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000, including data dissemination subsystems like EDDS and Mission Utility Support Tools MUST. Experience with Packet Utilisation Standard. Experience in working in an operational environment. Experience with flight procedures life cycle, including validation. Experience with anomaly investigations. Ability to understand and accurately predict behaviour of complex systems. Experience with low Earth orbit satellites operations, including experience in preparatory phase OPSPREP, special Operations LEOP, deorbiting campaign and operational phase routine. The ability to work independently with little supervision. Wellorganised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel. Capable to coordinate and Interact with other service providers in operations and other fields. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Familiarity with operational simulators, ideally SimSat. Familiarity with Earth Observations missions, in particular with Copernicus Sentinels. Familiarity with Telemetry and Telecommand TMTC databases, preferably SCOS2000 compatible. Familiarity with multisatellite missions. Experience in ground tests preparation and execution, e.g. Satellite Validation Test. Experience with ground segment integration and validation. The following experience is desirable Familiarity with Network Distribution and Interface Units or similar Electronical Ground Segment Equipment EGSE. Familiarity with MUST. Familiarity with ESOC working environment and Quality Management System QMS. The position is located on site at ESOC and will involve short European travels.
