More than 30 years ago, a gigantic mouse dropped from the ceiling of the Seattle Opera house, completing a battle between dancing rodents and knee-knocking wooden soldiers. Audible gasps ran through the audience as cannons boomed earlier and there were gasps when the massive puppet appeared.

Scientists at Nangyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore have developed a new lithium-ion battery that can be recharged to 70% capacity in just two minutes. This new lithium-ion battery (LIB) can also endure more than 10,000 charge/discharge cycles -- or about 20 times more than current LIBs. Perhaps most excitingly, though, NTU's new Li-ion tech has already been patented, is compatible with existing battery manufacturing processes, and has 'attracted interest from the industry.'

According to a new report that looks at how continuing improvements to artificial intelligence and robotics will impact society, 'robotic sex partners will become commonplace' by 2025. A large portion of the report also focuses on how AI and robotics will impact both blue- and white-collar workers, with about 50% of the polled experts stating that robots will displace more human jobs than they create by 2025.
