U.S. EPA added 130+ chemicals to its Safer Chemical Ingredients List. For first time, 119 chemicals that use fragrance for commercial and consumer cleaning products have been added. List of 602 chemicals provides resource for manufacturers interested in making safer products; advocates encouraging use of safer chemicals; and consumers seeking information on ingredients. EPA Reduces Regulatory Burden for Industrial Facilities Using Solvent Wipes

EPA modified hazardous waste management regulations under Resource Conservation and Recovery Act to exclude solvent-contaminated wipes from hazardous waste regulations provided that businesses clean/dispose of them properly. Rule is based on EPA’s final risk analysis that concluded wipes contaminated with certain hazardous solvents do not pose significant risk to human health or environment when managed properly. Gina McCarthy Named New EPA Administrator
