DIRECTV U.S. subscribers down 84,000 in 2Q 2013

DIRECTV (NASDAQ:DTV) has announced second quarter 2013 results. DIRECTV U.S. net subscribers declined by 84,000 in the quarter principally due to lower gross subscriber additions. DTVLA net additions in the quarter were 165,000.

Bharti Airtel Digital TV adds 352,000 subscribers in 2Q 2013

Bharti Airtel has announced its results for the quarter ended June 30, 2013. Airtel digital TV had 8.452 million customers on its Direct-To-Home (DTH) platform at the end of the period compared with 8.1 million at the end of March 2013.

Telenet adds 20,000 digital TV subscribers in 2Q 2013

Telenet (Brussels: TNET) has announced results for the six months ended June 30, 2013. Subscribers to Telenet Digital TV grew 12% year-on-year to 1,453,200 at the end of June 30, 2013. 20,100 net digital TV subscribers were added in Q2 2013.

Zain subscribers up 7% to 44.4 mln

(Telecompaper) Zain Group added 3 million new active customers over the past twelve months to serve 44.4 million as of 30 June, reflecting a 7 percent growth rate. For the first six months of 2013, the Middle East mobile operator's revenues reached USD 2.12 billion, EBITDA totaled USD 935 million, and the EBITDA margin was 43.3 percent. Net income reached USD 397 million or USD 0.10 per share. The group said adverse currency effects predominantly in Sudan cost the company the equivalent of USD 347 million in revenues, USD 150 million in EBITDA and USD 80 million in net profit for the six-month period. Group data revenues (excluding SMS and VAS) saw healthy 19 percent growth, with data now 13 percent of all Zain's revenues.
