Singtel TV subscribers up 1% in 2015

Singtel has announced results for its third quarter and nine months ended 31 December 2015. Singtel TV finished the year with 424,000 subscribers, up from 420,000 at the end of 2014.

Pay TV subscribers in Russia up 3.7% in 2015

According to preliminary estimates from TMT Consulting, in 2015 the number of pay TV subscribers in Russia reached 39.4 million. The total was 3.7% up year-on-year, compared with a growth rate of 8.6% for 2014.

HBO Now gains just 800,000 subscribers, fails to dent Game of Thrones piracy

HBO Now launched earlier this year to much acclaim, but the service has struggled to attract a large user base. Piracy of Game of Thrones, meanwhile, continues to rise, nearly doubling year-over-year.

HBO Now reaches 800,000 subscribers

(Telecompaper) HBO Now has attracted 800,000 paying subscribers since the standalone streaming TV service launched in April last year. The figure was announced by HBO Chief Richard Plepler in a conference call on parent company Time Warner's annual results. Pieper said growth should increase as the service is expanded to more distribution platforms, noting that Now is not yet available on Playstation and Xbox. For HBO Go, the on-demand service offered with the premium channel, those platforms account for 20 percent of viewing. HBO Now first launched on Apple devices and with cable operator Cablevision and has since spread to more platforms like Amazon and Android devices. Overall, the HBO and Cinemax channels added 2.7 million subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2015, including HBO Now.

800,000 subscribers for HBO Now

Answering questions on Time Warner's Q4 2015 results earnings call, HBO CEO, Richard Plepler, said that after eight months of operation the company's 'HBO Now' streaming service has 800,000 paying subscribers.
