Teradyne Inc.'s stock jumped the most in more than two years after the maker of tools to test semiconductors and wireless products posted first-quarter earnings that topped analysts' estimates. Earnings per share were 17 cents excluding some items, Teradyne said Thursday after the close, compared with the 12- cent average of predictions compiled by Bloomberg.

PG&E, attempting to push past the aftermath of a record-setting fine to punish the utility for a fatal explosion in San Bruno, offered on Wednesday a rosy outlook for its 2015 fiscal year, and reported first-quarter operating profits that beat Wall Street's expectations. "The lessons of San Bruno will never be forgotten and will continue to guide our work," Anthony Earley, PG&E's chief executive officer, said in a prepared release.

United Parcel Service Inc on Tuesday reported a higher quarterly net profit due to price increases and productivity improvements, and reaffirmed its earnings outlook for 2015. Atlanta-based UPS said profitability had improved across all of its business segments in the first quarter, though revenue growth in its supply chain and freight business was slowed by a strong U.S. dollar and lower fuel surcharges.
