Council to city's lawyers: Go after unauthorized pension for Police and Fire Pension Fund chief
2015-09-22 01:30:48| IT Services - Topix.net
By an 18-to-1 vote, Jacksonville City Council on Monday voted to take legal action and have a judge decide who's right and who is wrong in the longstanding showdown over a specially created pension, created in part by and for John Keane, the executive director of the Jacksonville Police and Fire Pension Fund. The fund was created in 2000 and for 12 years no known officials in City Hall had any idea that the pension fund's board of directors had signed off on the special pension deal that is much more lucrative than the city's general employee plan, the current retirement plan for police officers and firefighters and the state's retirement plan.
