EE confirms sales of 4G plans now outstrip 3G sales

(Telecompaper) EE has confirmed the next phase of its 4G service, including accelerated network expansion and the launch of new 4G plans and devices. The move comes as sales of EE 4G plans outstrip 3G for the first time, with 4G customer numbers reaching 3.6 million. EE is accelerating network roll-out in rural areas and on transport routes, as well doubling the footprint of its double speed network. It is bringing the 4G network to 2,588 villages and small towns with populations under 10,000, including many rural areas, with more than 3 million people in rural areas now having access to the 4G network.

Netflix confirms European expansion later this year

(Telecompaper) US streaming video service Netflix announced plans to launch in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Luxembourg later this year. The service will allow customers to watch a selection of Hollywood, local and global TV series and films, commercial-free, on TVs, tablets, phones, game consoles and computers. People interested in becoming Netflix members in these countries can sign up at Netflix.com to receive an e-mail alert when the service has launched. Further details, including pricing, programming and supported devices will be available at a later date. Netflix adds that it now has over 48 million customers in more than 40 countries.
