TIM, Mediaset strike FTA TV content deal

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) and broadcaster Mediaset have announced an agreement that will allow customers of the TIMvision video-on-demand service to watch all of Mediaset's free-to-air channels. Under the terms of the deal, starting in January 2019 all subscribers to TIMvision will be able to access the online programming of Mediaset's Canale5, Italia1 and Retequattro channels as well as the free-to-air themed channels La5, TGCom24, Mediaset Extra, 20, Iris, Italia2, Top Crime and Focus.

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the reappointment of Amos Genish as its CEO and independent director Fulvio Conti as its chairman after activist fund Elliott succeeded in its bid to take control of the company's board from leading shareholder Vivendi. In a statement, the operator said Conti, a former TIM manager and CEO of state-controlled utility Enel, would replace Vivendi CEO Arnaud de Puyfontaine as TIM chairman, with head of security Stefano Grassi temporarily assigned powers to manage all assets deemed strategic for national security and defence.

Judge delays TIM board standoff until May

(Telecompaper) A Milan judge has accepted the appeal lodged by Telecom Italia (TIM) and its top investor Vivendi against a decision by the company's statutory auditors to supplement the agenda of the upcoming Annual Shareholders' Meeting on 24 April with a motion proposed by activist fund Elliott to replace six Vivendi-nominated board members. The AGM to approve the company's financial results will still go ahead but the showdown over the board seats will be delayed until another shareholder meeting called for 04 May. In a statement, TIM said the agenda of the 24 April meeting will be as defined on 06 March but Elliott's proposal won't be discussed.
