A positive spin among office brokers is that large blocks of vacated space have created opportunities for tenants, including new employers that are looking for space in Albuquerque. Gap Inc., for example, will absorb Class A office space at 4400 Masthead St. NE in the North I-25 submarket this year.

Albuquerque ranks on bottom half of venture capital investment list

If efforts like Innovate ABQ bear fruit it's one list that Albuquerque should climb in coming years, but for 2014 the Duke City ranked 89th out of 160 U.S. cities for venture capital investment, according to a new MoneyTree report. The report, conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association, and based on data from Thomson Reuters, showed that Albuquerque had 12 venture capital deals in the last year totaling $12.66 million.

Unruly passenger forces Delta plane to land in Albuquerque

Authorities say a disruptive passenger forced a Delta Air Lines flight from Atlanta to Los Angeles to land at the Albuquerque International Sunport between 6 and 7 p.m. Thursday. Airport spokesman Daniel Jiron told the Albuquerque Journal that Sunport police arrested the passenger, who was traveling on Delta flight 81, once the plane landed.

Cost of flying to Albuquerque could go up

In the next few weeks, the Albuquerque Sunport will lose five daily Southwest Airlines flights. The Wright Amendment is expiring, meaning the airline no longer needs to stop in neighboring cities, like Albuquerque, when traveling from Dallas' Lovefield Airport on the way to places like Phoenix, Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
