Lawyers for John Deere and other farm and heavy equipment managers are taking their case to the U.S. Supreme Court following a state court decision that rejected most of their challenges to New Hampshire's Auto Dealers Bill of Rights law. The law, signed by Gov. Maggie Hassan in 2013, was expanded to include manufacturers of tractors and yard and garden equipment.

Small U.S. oil-and-gas producer Quicksilver Resources Inc began making its case in court on Friday for using its bankruptcy to reject a pipeline contract, a move that trade groups warned could undermine the $500 billion midstream industry. Quicksilver's push to end its agreement with Crestwood Equity Partners has become a closely watched test for midstream operators, which process and transport the producers' oil and gas.

Mohammad Salimullah, the former Nashua man twice ruled incompetent to stand trial for allegedly attempting to kill his wife in 2013 by slashing her throat, was back in court Tuesday, the result of prosecutors' recent decision to re-file the charges and seek to have him deemed competent for trial. Salimullah, 38, formerly of 18 E. Pearl St. in Nashua, remains held at the New Hampshire State Hospital in Concord on a civil commitment order previously granted by the court.
Quebec court rejects bid to have hearings into Energy East suspended

A Quebec court has rejected a request by an environmental coalition to have hearings into the Energy East pipeline project suspended. The coalition was seeking the injunction because it believes the hearings will not be complete without impact studies from TransCanada PipeLines Ltd., which is behind the $15.7-billion project.

A Ventura County man accused of jumping a pedestrian on a La Jolla roadside, throwing her to the ground and sexually assaulting her, pleaded not guilty Friday to assault with intent to commit rape and other charges. Villasenor, of Oxnard, allegedly ran up to the woman from behind and attacked her as she was walking to her car in the 7700 block of Exchange Place shortly after 9 p.m. Wednesday.
