September 2013 WASDE: Corn production up, prices down; soybean production down, prices up

Source: USDA The September 2013 WASDE report from USDA projects corn and feed grain supplies higher this month. The average yield is up nearly 1 bushel from last month, now at 155.3 bushels per acre. Soybean production for the current market year is down from last month due to lower soybean, cottonseed and peanut production. The average soybean yield is down 1.4 bushels from last month, now at 41.2 bushels per acre. read more

USDA Forecasts Largest Corn Crop on Record

Source: U.S. Department of Agriculture Despite the excessively wet spring and hot, dry summer, U.S. crop farmers are on the verge of harvesting the largest corn crop in history, according to a report today from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). NASS forecasts corn production at 13.8 billion bushels, up less than 1% from the August forecast and up 28% from 2012. If realized, this will be a new record production for the United States. read more
