NLziet starts SVoD deal at EUR 7.95 per month

(Telecompaper) Dutch broadcasting subscription portal NLziet has launched its subscription at EUR 7.95 per month, giving access to a VoD catalogue of Dutch programmes going back one year. The platform will start with 2750 series and programmes, translating into 29,002 episodes and 12,024 hours of material. There are apps available for iOS and Android, as well as a browser application. The range of offerings will increase every day, though not everything will be available, in connection with the rights issue. Still, NLziet does want to provide all Dutch programming, director Niels Baas said at the sidelines of the Telecompaper Connected 2014 event.

Alcatel-Lucent to raise EUR 1 bln in convertible bonds issue

(Telecompaper) Alcatel-Lucent announced an offering of EUR 1 billion in convertible bonds. Part of its ongoing restructuring efforts known as the Shift Plan, the offering includes EUR 600 million of bonds due 30 January 2019 and EUR 400 million maturing on 30 January 2020. The bookrunners have an option to increase the issues by up to 10 percent. The proceeds will be used to pay off USD 1.75 billion on the company's senior secured credit facility in the US, which should extend the group's debt profile and reduce the amount of interest due. The bonds will be issued at a premium to Alcatel's share price, at 35-40 percent for the 2019 bonds and 32-37 percent for the 2020 bobds. They will pay little to no interest and be convertible one-to-one in Alcatel shares. They will be listed in Paris.

Atos announces EUR 620 mln takeover bid for Bull

(Telecompaper) French-based international IT services company Atos and enterprise data group Bull have announced the intended public offer in cash by Atos for all of Bull's issued and outstanding shares. Atos intends to create a big data & cybersecurity entity under the Bull brand with revenue of about EUR 500 million. Both Atos and Bull's boards of directors have given their support for the transaction. Crescendo Industries and Pothar Investments, which own 24.2 percent of Bull, have committed to tender their shares to the Atos bid. The offer is set at EUR 4.90 per Bull share, a 22 percent premium over Bull's closing price of EUR 4.01 on 23 May, the last trading day before the announcement. The offer will target Bull's outstanding OCEANE convertible bonds at EUR 5.55 each. The offer values Bull at approximately EUR 620 million. The operation is intended to create Europe's biggest player in cloud operations and a leading cybersecurity solutions provider and release EUR 80 million in annual cost synergies after two years.

SFR revenue drops 5.8% to EUR 2.44 bln in Q1

(Telecompaper) French operator SFR had EUR 2.44 billion of revenue in the first quarter, down 5.8 percent on the first quarter of 2013, reports Vivendi, which classifies SFR as a discontinued operation since reaching an agreement to sell it to Numericable and Altice. SFR's decreased slowed in the first quarter, compared to a 7.1 percent decline in the last quarter of 2013. Retail revenues decreased by 8.9 percent to EUR 1.61 billion. The operator's total mobile customer base rose by 3.2 percent over a year to 21.29 million, including 18.02 million postpaid customers. In the first quarter alone, it decreased by 21,000. The broadband internet residential customer base grew by 43,000 in the first quarter, to reach 5.25 million. FTTH customers reached 221,000 and multi-pack customers grew by 528,000 in a year to 2.48 million at the end of March (47.3% of all broadband internet customers). SFR's EBITDA fell by 11 percent to EUR 625 million, a decrease softened by its transformation plan.
