(Telecompaper) Nokia has inaugurated a new lab at its global headquarters in Espoo, Finland, that it says will act as a showcase for its full range of 5G equipment, software and services. The '5G Future X Lab offers an extensive build-out of a 5G end-to-end network, allowing communications service providers, businesses and infrastructure providers alike to experience live hardware, software and full network slicing operations, said the company.

Elisa Finland claims to have sold first 5G phone in Nordic region

(Telecompaper) Elisa Finland claimed that the first 5G phone in the Nordic countries was sold on 03 July to Harri Hellstrom at its Elisa Kulma flagship store in Helsinki. The ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G handset was handed over by Veli-Matti Mattila, the CEO of Elisa. Hellstrom is a resident of Tampere, where one of the first Elisa 5G networks is located.
Telia Finland commences fixed telephony network shutdown

(Telecompaper) Telia Finland said it had started its fixed telephony network shutdown at the beginning of June. Some subscriptions had been idle but half of consumers continue to use their old landline number with mobile technology, it said. The landline shutdown had been announced in January.

Telenor enters Finland with acquisition of 54% of DNA for EUR 1.5 bln

(Telecompaper) Telenor Group said it has agreed to acquire 54 percent of the shares in the Finnish telecom operator DNA for EUR 20.90 each in cash, or a total of EUR 1.5 billion. The acquisition is through separate agreements with DNA's two largest shareholders, Finda Telecoms and PHP Holding, which own 28.3 percent and 25.8 percent respectively. Completion would trigger a mandatory public buy-out offer of the remaining DNA shares at the same price.
