Exxon Mobil to ramp up production at Beaumont refinery

Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil Corp. announced Aug. 4 that it will increase the production capacity for light crudes at its refinery in Beaumont, Texas, by approximately 20,000 barrels a day. To date, the Beaumont refinery produces around 345,000 barrels of crude oil per day and has a significant downstream charge capacity for kerosene and jet fuel, with 51,000 barrels a day.

United Microelectronics Corp. , the world's second-largest foundry, said its ramp of 28nm process technology will slow as the outlook for demand is likely to remain weak until the first half of 2016 while the chip industry works its way out of an inventory correction. The portion of total revenue for the Hsinchu, Taiwan chipmaker from its most advanced 28nm node will probably drop to about 10% during the second half of this year after peaking at 11% in the second quarter.

MTA to open new ramp on Verrazano-Narrows Bridge

Motorists will have to get used to a new entrance ramp to get on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from the Belt Parkway starting this week. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bridges and Tunnels announced that a new ramp connecting the Belt Parkway to the Staten Island-bound lower level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge is set to open on July 22. The ramp is part of the $84.3 million project to construct a new lane for buses and high-occupancy vehicles that will eventually connect to the bus/HOV lane on the Gowanus Expressway.
