The foundation contributed $125 million toward the "grand bargain"-the deal that smoothed Detroit's path through bankruptcy by softening the blow to city pensioners, while safeguarding the Detroit Institute of Arts' collection.

He is the grandson of the late Mr. & Mrs. Hollie Ford of Sumter, S. C. and the late Mr. & Mrs. Robert Brown of Sumter, S. C. Alonzo graduated from B.E. Mays High School. He received his B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and his M.B.A. from Emory University. Alonzo is Customer Growth Leader for GE Capital in Atlanta, Ga.
