AOCS Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities In this role you will be working at ESAESTEC and have the following responsibilities Provide technical support to ESA projects in design, development, and verification of AOCS Attitude and Orbit Control Systems for Earth Observation,Scientific, Navigation or Telecom projects, Participate in reviews Perform AOCS analysessimulations. Support the AOCS hardware sensorsactuators procurement in ESA satellite programmes Review AOCS software implementation Contribute to AOCS hardware and technology development and laboratory activities in the frame of RD contracts. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in Control and Aerospace engineering or equivalent Several years experience in the design, tuning, analysis and simulation of AOCS systems in different project phases Good working knowledge of Hardware sensors, computer, actuators AOCS AIT at subsystem and system level Commercial modelbased design tools MATLAB Ability to operate in a team environment, good interpersonal, reporting and communication skills and a proactive attitude to solving problems Fluency in English is mandatory, knowledge of another European language is an advantage. The Senior AOCS Subsystem Engnieer, the AOCS Subystem Engineer is responsible for design, development, integration and verification of the AOCS subsystem of satellite projects. Tasks Attitude and Orbit Control System AOCS subsystem engineering for satellite project In charge of the definition and development of the AOCS subsystem including definition of the verification philosophy on subsystem level and specification of test requirements Coordination with system level via the avionics technical responsible of the project Responsibility for the management of subcontractors and hardware suppliers, with support of the subcontractor management organisation within the project In charge of all AOCS related project activities, ensuring technical quality as well as schedule and budget compliance on subsystem level Leading a small group of AOCS project engineers Qualification Degree in engineering, space technology, physics or a comparable qualification 5 years of professional experience in space projects as AOCS subsystem engineer, AOCS project engineer or in a similar technical position AIT project experience would be of advantage Ideally, gained experience in ESAASI or commercial geostationary satellite projects. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows The department provides the AOCS GNC engineering analysis and support to a number of large ESA projects and technology studies. Recent missions include Aeolus global observations of wind profiles, LISA Pathfinder paving the way for the LISA mission to detect gravitational waves, Gaia making the largest, most precise map of our own Galaxy to date and ExoMars Rover a mission to land and operate an autonomous rover vehicle on Mars. The department is also involved in technology development studies, focussed on GNC technologies for the next generation of missions. Key activities include technical analysis using Matlab and AOCS Algorithm development.
