CSX plans to cut 300 management workers, most in Jacksonville

CSX Corp. plans to cut 300 management workers, most of them from its Jacksonville headquarters, through buyouts by the end of the year, according to a company spokeswoman. CSX Corp., a railway operator with about 3,600 employees in Jacksonville, is making the cuts as part of an ongoing effort to reduce expenses, Cost said.

AT&T drops in-flight WiFi plans, and with it, a threat to Gogo

Early this year, AT&T said it was working toward offering an in-flight WiFi competitor to Itasca, Illinois-based Gogo and other providers, but now the telecommunications giant has dropped those plans. Re/code reported that, despite market research indicating many customers are dissatisfied with current in-flight WiFi offerings, the company has decided to sink resources elsewhere , in particular expanding internationally , and perhaps in a bid for DirecTV .

AT&T Scraps Plans for In-Flight High-Speed Internet Service

AT&T Inc has scrapped its plans to launch high-speed Internet service on commercial flights in order to focus on international expansion and video offerings, the company said in a statement on Monday. On Friday, the carrier announced a $1.7 billion acquisition of Mexican operator Iusacell, AT&T's second major acquisition this year following a $48.5 billion bid for satellite operator DirecTV.

AT&T's Inflight WiFi Plans Won't Take Off

With an acquisition in Mexico and plans to shrink its capex budget in 2015 already under its belt, AT&T shook up its strategy and investment plans further on Monday by scrapping a proposal to develop 4G-enabled in-flight broadband services. The operator has dropped its plans, first unveiled in April, to develop its own broadband connectivity service for airline staff and passengers using LTE connectivity.

Wire maker plans northern Indiana expansion
