A federal judge has ordered an Irish drug manufacturer to halt its plans to discontinue its widely used Alzheimer's medication, allegedly in an effort to drive patients to a newer patented drug. U.S. District Judge Robert Sweet tells Dublin-based Actavis PLC to continue making the drug Namenda available through July, when generic alternatives become available.

Oncothyreon Inc. on Friday said it made a licensing deal with Array BioPharma Inc. regarding a breast cancer drug that received "positive preliminary data" in two recent trials, and its shares rose sharply on the news. In the licensing deal for ONT-380, Oncothyreon will pay Array $20 million upfront and up to $280 million in possible milestone payments.

Drug overdose deaths down in New Mexico

Martinez said Friday that New Mexico did not rank first or second nationally for drug overdose fatality rates for the first time since 1992. Data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicates New Mexico's rate fell 16 percent between 2011 and 2013.
