International Paper says US antidumping duties will not impact its Brazilian operations

International Paper Brazil said the US Dept of Commerce announcement of antidumping and countervailing duties on Brazilian uncoated freesheet office and copy paper producers will bring little or no impact to the company. According to IP, Brazil's volumes are almost entirely shipped to the USA and then re-exported to customers in the Caribbean and Central America.

Whirlpool seeks import duties on washing machines from China

Dec 16 Whirlpool Corp filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission on Wednesday against what it said were cheap imports of washing machines from China, which could end in duties on goods made by companies including Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics. The petition by the appliance maker covers top-loading and front-loading clothes washers and some components for large residential clothes washer cabinets, tubs and baskets or drums.

General Mills Awards Global Media Duties to Mindshare

Mindshare, which three weeks ago won U.S. media chores for General Mills, has now added global duties for the Minneapolis-based packaged-goods titan. The consolidation at the agency, a unit of WPP's GroupM, covers assignments across Europe, Australia and some Asian markets, as well as in Africa and the Middle East, a General Mills representative said.

Verso Corp. , Sappi North America and Appleton Coated , together with the United Steelworkers , have called for an extension of duties on imports of coated paper from China and Indonesia that were previously determined to have threatened material injury to U.S. producers and workers. Duties resulting from this determination are periodically reassessed under what are known as "sunset reviews."
