Qualcomm Inc., the biggest maker of chips that run smartphones, is teaming up with Japan's TDK Corp. to create a Singapore-based joint venture that will make components for the growing market for radio-frequency chips used in handsets, robotics, cars and drones. TDK surged.

Samsung to manufacture Qualcomm Snapdragon 820

(Telecompaper) Samsung Electronics announced the start of mass production of its latest advanced chips using its second-generation 14nm LPP (Low-Power Plus) process. In addition to its own Exynos 8 Octa processor, the FinFET process will be used for Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 820 processor, which will appear in mobile devices in the first half of this year. The first generation 14nm process produced Samsung's Exynos 7 Octa processor last year.
