Marin Clean Energy has signed a new $20 million contract with Calpine Corp. that will further reduce the carbon emissions produced by the electricity it sells to its customers. Under the 33-month agreement, Marin Clean Energy has the option of buying between 10 megawatts and 15 megawatts of electricity from Houston-based Calpine.

El Paso County Commissioners Court hires company to clean up illegal dumping in Fabens

El Paso County Commissioners Court has contracted an environmental engineering firm to address the illegal dumping problem in a closed Fabens landfill. The county has until Monday to comply with a violation notice issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality on Feb. 17, after an investigation revealed county employees illegally disposed paving material in a landfill closed since 1990 east of Fabens.

On Wednesday night I was proud to join hundreds of residents from River Rouge and other Michigan communities in speaking out for cleaner air in Detroit. For decades, the residents of River Rouge and surrounding communities have been living with severe air pollution from nearby coal plants, and together, they came out in force to pack a public hearing and call on the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to put a plan in place that will finally clean up this pollution, and correct a longstanding environmental injustice.
