Smokey air in Yakima Valley caused by wildfires; air 'unhealthy'

The Washington State Department of Ecology and the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality have issued an air quality alert for the Yakima Valley that is in effect until noon Monday. The hazy, smokey conditions are due to the multiple wildfires burning in the region and the forecasted weather conditions, namely wind picking up and blowing the smoke over into the valley.

The Tennessee Valley Authority 's board of directors Friday unanimously approved an Integrated Resource Plan that will serve as a roadmap for how the utility meets its customers' energy needs over the next 20 years.
