The following projects and dollar amounts are requested for inclusion in a new transit sales tax measure proposed for November 2016: Just weeks after throwing its support behind a controversial 710 Freeway tunnel, the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments removed tunnel funding from a transportation priority list that could become part of a half-cent sales tax ballot measure in November 2016. A $3.3-billion transportation funding list was submitted by the SGVCOG to the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority Monday, shortly after the board accepted a request from the pro-tunnel coalition to remove $105 million in funding for a 4.9-mile underground tunnel between Alhambra and Pasadena.

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration urge residents throughout the greater Portland area, the Columbia Gorge and Northeastern Oregon to take health precautions from smoke caused by dozens of wildfires burning in and around the state. Conditions will conitnue through Sunday afternoon, when winds are expected to shift and blow the smoke out of the region.
