A federal judge has approved a subpoena allowing the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to proceed with its class-wide race discrimination investigation of Union Pacific Railroad, the federal agency announced today. The Texas-based company which manufacturers a widely criticized guardrail system is now the subject of another federal investigation, this time by the Department of Justice, I-Team 8 has learned. While a spokeswoman for the Department of Justice would not confirm or deny the existence of the investigation, documents filed this week with the Securities Exchange Commission show that the guardrail company, Trinity Industries, received a subpoena on Tuesday from the U.S. Department of Justice through the U.S. Attorney of Massachusetts, seeking 16 years worth of documents related to the ET 2000 and ET Plus guardrails.

United Technologies Corp. said it received a second subpoena from U.S. authorities seeking information about potential foreign bribery violations. said late Friday it received a second subpoena on March 9 from the Securities and Exchange Commission seeking documents related to internal allegations of alleged violations of U.S. anti-bribery law by its aerospace and commercial businesses, including its work in China.
