Freight train kills pedestrian at Lake Forest depot

A Canadian Pacific freight train struck and killed an 87-year-old man in Lake Forest on Thursday afternoon, officials said. Police and firefighters responded to a call at 1:54 p.m. at the West Train Depot, 911 S. Telegraph Road, where they found a man dead on the tracks, according to a release from Lake Forest police.

'Paint the Train' project dedicated

The 'Paint the Train' project was officially dedicated on Tuesday night by members of the Sunrise Rotary Club, the Cranbrook History Centre and Mayor Lee Pratt. The project, first identified in 2008, was recently completed after work began in 2010, according to Frank Vanden Broek, a member of the committee that oversaw the project.

Additional equipment detrailed - more than additionally reported when a Westbound Norfolk Souther train was struck from behind by a second train, also headed westbound, at 4 p.m. yesterday. According to Norfolk Southern, all of the oil is contained to the site, and has not impacted any waterways containing moving water.
