Former Realtor arrested on tax evasion charges

Former real estate broker Ramara Garrett, who hobnobbed with local politicians and community leaders and whose live-in boyfriend is serving time in federal prison for mortgage fraud, was arrested on charges of sales tax evasion, according to the State Attorney's Office. An arrest report states that Garrett, 37, the mother of five children, owed the state of Florida and Volusia County just under $20,000 in unpaid taxes.
