Proven consulting ability to advise senior telecoms customers on future systems design and work with stakeholders to devise new service concepts. You must be able to work in an environment where requirements change often and quickly, and have the ability to assimilate new information rapidly and derive suitable courses of action. You will also need to demonstrate good commercial acumen and business awareness. You should also have strong analytical skills, be selfmotivated and able to tackle technical assignments and problem solving without support from others. You mus t have strong written and presentation skills, with excellent attention to detail. An ability to anticipate risks and mitigate appropriately is essential. Software systems could include offline planning tools online provisioning and fault management systems specialised network components and gateways end user applications supporting using satellite communications. Responsibilities Act as overall technical authority for the development and integration of software systems supporting satellite communications services. Responsible for eliciting and defining systems requirements, creating software architecture and design, monitoring development progress and providing domain expertise and software development guidance to project teams. Take a lead technical role in the bidding process for IT systems being procured by satellite operators or service providers. Act as a subject matter expert on satellite communications within the practice and to other projects, e.g. feasibility studies. This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is for scientific engineering consultancy mainly in the areas of optical imaging for oceanography products, e.g. sea surface temperature or ocean colour products. You should have a university degree in remote sensing, oceanography, meteorology, physics or equivalent. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. The primary task of the Consultant will include engineering and scientific aspects related to the development of methods for the calibration and validation of mission product data as well as the development of the monitoring functions of the product generating facilities within the ground segment. The key experience and attributes sought are Good interpersonal skills in support of team work At least 3 years experience with satellite Sea Surface Temperature andor Ocean Colour data sets, or with microwave radiometry Experience in the development and validation of satellite data processing Good skills in a higher programming language such as C C or Java Good writing skills in preparing scientific technical documents Familiarity with Microsoft Office The working language is English.
