Tessera Technologies Reaches Global Settlement with Amkor

Tessera Technologies, Inc. today announced that its subsidiary, Tessera, Inc., has entered into an agreement with Amkor Technology, Inc. to settle all pending litigation between Amkor and Tessera, Inc. Under the terms of the agreement, Amkor will pay Tessera a total of $155 million, comprised of sixteen equal quarterly recurring payments commencing in the first quarter of 2015, and continuing through the fourth quarter of 2018. This settlement includes the resolution of the previously awarded judgment of $128.3 million plus interest, as well as additional amounts related to the settlement of other proceedings.

Mendocino County will receive nearly $8,000 as part of the settlement the Safeway supermarket chain paid for violating environmental laws regarding hazardous waste. According to the Mendocino County District Attorney's Office, Pleasanton-based Safeway Incorporated, which also owns Vons, Pavilions and Pak 'n Save, must pay “$9.7 million in civil penalties, costs incurred by various agencies and funding for supplemental environmental projects” for improper handling of hazardous waste.

Safeway to pay $9.87 million as settlement of environmental violations

Alameda County Superior Court Judge Wynne S. Carvill has ordered Pleasanton-based Safeway Inc. to pay $9.87 million as part of a settlement of a civil environmental prosecution. Alameda County District Attorney Nancy E. O'Malley said 42 other California district attorneys and two city attorneys were involved with her office in the investigation of the unlawfully handling and disposal of various hazardous wastes and materials over a 7-1/2-year period by Safeway and Safeway-owned stores.
