The family of a deceased 11-year-old Alabama boy has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Publix Super Markets claiming he died as a result of severe allergic shock from eating a cookie after a store employee misled them about the ingredients. The lawsuit says Derek Landon Wood died in June 2014 shortly after eating a chocolate chip cookie purchased at a Publix store in Clarksville.

Graffiti found on the tail cone of United Flight 869 were of concern to flight attendants working the flight last July 14. For years the threat of terrorism - and the fear that threat often engenders - has loomed large in the airline industry both for passengers and airline staff. That fact was made clear yet again Tuesday when 13 flight attendants for Chicago-based United Airlines filed a complaint with the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration claiming they were unfairly fired from their jobs on Oct. 9 and 10 of last year.

A former Mattel corporate communications executive sued the El Segundo-based toy manufacturer Thursday, alleging she was fired for complaining about a supervisor's derogatory remarks about women and his preference for hiring males. Julie A. “Jules” Andres had a stellar record over a decade with the company and generated positive media reports for Mattel, according to her Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit.
