(Telecompaper) Zoom Video Communications announced it has seen a 20-fold increase in daily users on its messaging and conferencing platform. In March, the company passed 200 million daily meeting participants, both free and paid, compared to 10 million in December last year. The increased usage has raised concerns about security and privacy on Zoom, and CEO Eric Yuan issued an apology to customers, saying the company would focus more on addressing the concerns.

(Telecompaper) Zoom Video Communications reported better-than-expected results for its fiscal fourth quarter to January and full year. Quarterly revenues jumped 78 percent year-on-year to USD 188.3 million, and adjusted operating profit more than tripled, to USD 38.4 million from USD 9.8 million a year earlier. Net profit improved to USD 15.3 million from USD 1.2 million, and the adjusted EPS rose to USD 0.15, double the 7 cents forecast.

A security researcher has found a flaw in the popular video conferencing app Zoom that could be used to turn on the camera on a Macintosh computer without a user's permission. The vulnerability allows any website to forcibly join a user to a Zoom call, with their video camera activated, without a user's permission, explained Jonathan Leitschuh, a senior software engineer at Gradle.
