A 20-year-old man was injured after the car travelling south on St. George St. collided with a westbound CP freight train at Piccadilly St. on May 30. A downtown-area railway crossing ranked as one of the most dangerous in London by one rail safety expert is being upgraded. The crossing at Piccadilly and St. George streets will be outfitted with a gate sometime this year, the Canadian Pacific Railway confirmed.

Reuters: Heavy dust clouds blowing from Cliffs Natural Resources' abandoned Wabush iron ore mine into a small township in the eastern Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador is putting a focus on the liability of miners that seek creditor protection and walk away from assets. Iron ore and coal miner Cliffs Natural Resources Inc announced in February 2014 it was shutting down its Wabush mine. This year it sought creditor protection for its Canadian assets. The International Space Station needs new cameras and an $11-million contract to design their replacement has been awarded to MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. . The Vancouver-area company - which designed the space station's robotic maintenance system - says the new cameras will provide better illumination for viewing critical operations.

Exxon Mobil gets Canadian project pumping ahead of schedule

The Alberta, Canada project could ultimately produce 110,000 barrels per day, doubling the overall capacity of the Kearl project. As part of the expansion, Irving-based Exxon added three additional trains that are used to produce the bitumen.
