Canada's inflation rate hits a fresh 18-year high

Consumer prices rose 4.4% in the 12 months to September, as Canada grappled with global supply chain issues.

Inflation in the UK rose by 1.5% in the year to April, compared with 0.7% in March.

A fall in the price of clothing and second-hand cars offset a rise in fuel costs last month.

The slower rate of price increases comes as the Bank of England considers whether to cut interest rates.

Higher transport costs sent inflation up to 2.5% in July in the first increase since November.
