Study Highlights Need for increased genome sequencing accuracy.

Published in Genome Medicine, "Medical implications of technical accuracy in genome sequencing" assesses accuracy of modern human-genome-sequencing technologies. This study found that medically significant DNA blueprint portions are situated in complex, hard-to-analyze regions prone to systematic errors. Stanford University and NIST researchers say it is essential to have methods to benchmark performance in all regions that are sequenced for diagnostic or other medical purposes.
