ON Semiconductor Corp. reported Thursday it saw a 17 percent revenue increase for the fourth quarter of 2014 and a jump of nearly 14 percent for the entire year due in part to the company's automotive demand. The Phoenix-based semiconductor manufacturer reported net income of $4.9 million, or 1 cent per share, on revenue of $864.2 million for the fourth quarter that ended Dec. 31.This compares with net income of $37.8 million, or 8 cents per share, on revenue of $718 million for the third quarter of 2013.

Truckmaker Volvo posts 4Q loss of $364 million as demand for construction equipment weakens

Swedish truck maker AB Volvo has posted a fourth-quarter loss of 3 billion kronor , compared with a 548 million-kronor surplus last year, in the face of weak demand for construction equipment. The Goteborg-based company says sales in the last three months of 2014 rose slightly to 77.5 billion kronor from 76.6 billion kronor in the same period last year.

The financial crises in North America and Europe have led to reductions in consumer demand for general apparel, but for swimwear in particular, the last five years have not been easy. This could be set to change for some regions, however, as the global economy picks up.
