Ford aims to triple exports from India with $1 billion plant

Ford Motor Co has invested $1 billion in a new plant in western India which will help the automaker triple exports from the country, chief executive Mark Fields told reporters on Thursday. Ford plans to make India an export hub for compact cars such as the EcoSport, a sub-four meter sports utility vehicle, and the newly launched compact sedan, Ford Figo Aspire, the first car to be produced at the new facility.

Catalog retailer L.L. Bean to triple stores by 2020

L.L. Bean, known for selling its trademark boots via catalog for more than a century, plans to make a bigger push into brick-and-mortar retail by more than tripling the number of locations over the next five years, officials said Wednesday. The Maine-based company, which is coming off five years of increasing revenue, will open four stores this year before accelerating growth with a goal of "at least 100" by 2020, President and CEO Chris McCormick told workers in a memo Wednesday.

BBC: The number of people affected by river flooding worldwide could nearly triple in the next 15 years, analysis shows. Climate change and population growth are driving the increase, according to the World Resources Institute (WRI). In the UK, about 76,000 people a year could be at risk of being affected by flooding if defences aren't improved, it says. The yearly cost of damage to urban areas could reach more than 1bn.
